About me
I’m Shirley Mujico, a BACP registered psychotherapist offering counselling and EMDR therapy in Balham Hill, Wimbledon, and online. After a career in marketing, my journey into psychotherapy began while working in secondary education, where I worked with students who were facing challenges in their lives. After taking some initial counselling training, I became interested in how stress, anxiety, and unresolved emotions can impact everyday life, and I felt drawn to helping people navigate these challenges in a more meaningful way.
I work with adults and couples who are facing difficulties such as anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, and loss. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, unsure of how to move forward. My role is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, with the support and guidance needed to make sense of your experiences.

My approach is integrative, meaning that I draw from different therapeutic methods to suit each individual. I combine psychodynamic therapy—which helps uncover deep-rooted patterns—with EMDR, a powerful technique for processing trauma and distressing memories. I also incorporate elements of person-centred therapy, ensuring that each session is tailored to your unique needs and goals. Therapy isn’t about offering quick fixes; it’s about working together to create lasting change and helping you develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
Above all, I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship. Having a space where you feel seen, heard, and understood can be a transformative experience, and I am committed to providing a supportive and compassionate environment for my clients.
I attend regular supervision to maintain high professional standards and I am fully insured for my counselling and psychotherapy practice.
I am also committed to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to enhance my skills and stay up to date with best practices
